The shifting of the remains of victims of the genocide
Committed against the Tutsi in1994 from graves that gave away because of torrential rains to a better grave at Kiziguro memorial site in Gatsibo district.
November 24th was a day of grief and hope for the survivors of genocide committed against Tutsi in 1994 in the former communes of Murambi and Muhura respectively.
Many survivors and the general public from kiziguro sector and other sectors turned out to witness this event .
Present also was the vice- mayor in charge of social affaires who was representing Gatsibo district authority ,the army Commandant in the District ,the representative of Ibuka ,the Vice-President of the district council, the exec - secretaries of sectors and other dignitaries
It was a moment of grief for that shofling of the remains of the victims of genocide to other grave braught old memories alive .
However, the new Gatsibo authority gave these survivors a new hope, a hope to live again and to live a better life
More to that, the Vice- Mayor in charge of Social affairs Mme UWIMPUHWE Esperance who was representing the District ,promised to the survivors of genocide and the general public that in the near future the District is planning to put a better structure that will serve as a Memorial site that is worth the dignity our beloved ones we lost during the genocide committed against the Tutsi in 1994.
Seeing how the general public was giving a helping hand shifting of those remains, in Gatsibo district we have high hope that unity and reconciliation is steadily taking from root thanks to the zeal and commitment of our new Leaders.
